Hello,
I am facing the disappearance of the internal sound after waking my Thinkpad Z16 (Gen 2) from suspend: this is a long-known and chronically ignored issue (e.g., 2).
In my case, only the left internal speaker is muted when this happens.
The problem is, for sure, not restricted either to a specific kernel version, nor to a specific distribution, and it occurs on both Z13/Z16 Gen 1 and Gen 2: see the above links; personally, I have experienced it starting from 6.8 and on Ubuntu, arch and EndeavourOS, at least (very likely, on earlier versions and on openSUSE, which I briefly tried at some point, too).
What is more, I had a full motherboard replacement under the warranty (due to some unrelated keyboard issues) – the left-speaker problem has persisted.
All systems where this issue is known to be occurring seem to use the Realtek ALC3306 audio card.
The occurrence of this issue is non-deterministic: very roughly, it may be happening after one out of 6..8 sleep-wake cycles.
Recently I tried a work-around, which was addressed in a paralel thread: there seth helped me a lot with its implementation. The implemented work-around hasn't helped the original issue (there is a little chance though that the frequency of the issue has been slightly reduced).
I have (pre-)installed Windows, but I log in there roughly twice a year, so the issue is, not directly related to that. I don't think I have ever experienced it there – but then again, I very rarely use that thing (e.g., not sure whether I ever used "suspend" there)…
Recently (after implementing the work-around attempt) I managed to isolate the journal log of the sleep-cycle when the problem occurred: I am sure that the left speaker worked before the suspend and it disappeared after.
Please note that I am currently running EndeavourOS – let me repeat that personally, I have experienced this issue on various distributions, including arch – so, please don't view my posting the EndeavourOS log fragment as a violation of rules. I have little doubt that finding a solution that works on any distribution would help it "universally" (in particular, addressing the known issue on arch).
Let me post the log fragment below…

Before I post the log, let me ask this.
I just noticed these discussions: the wrong sound chip is recognized in Ubuntu "Realtek ALC287" instead of the correct "Realtek ALC3306"; The device is equipped with a Realtek ALC3306 audio card, but alsa detects it as a ALC287.
My
aplay -lreturns "device 0: ALC287 Analog" too (the actual card is Realtek ALC3306) – could this be causing the issue?

Here is the log fragment: I've applied the standard "anonymising" speps: "MY_USER_NAME", "MY_EXTERNAL_IP" and "MULTICAST_IP" replace the corresponding values & "…" replaces all MAC addresses.
"[dg] Going to suspend..." & "[dg] Waking up from suspend..." are produced by my "/lib/systemd/system-sleep/dg-sleep.sh" – you can see the action of 'pactl set-card-profile' soon after those marks (look for "set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_c7_00.6").

By the way, here is another post: reporting the same issue on Z16 Gen 1 running Fedora, citing the identical system log fragment:
[…] cs35l41-hda i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1: Failed waiting for OTP_BOOT_DONE
[…] cs35l41-hda i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1: PM: dpm_run_callback(): cs35l41_system_resume [snd_hda_scodec_cs35l41] returns -121
[…] cs35l41-hda i2c-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1: PM: failed to resume async: error -121Offline
And here is an interesting statistics:
Doing
journalctl | grep -c "Failed waiting for OTP_BOOT_DONE"gave "23".
Doing
journalctl | grep -c "The system will suspend now!"gave "315".
So, it looks plausible that "Failed waiting for OTP_BOOT_DONE" is, indeed, tightly related to the issue (which then must be occurring not with probability ≈7/48, as I originally guessed, but rather with ≈23/315; alternatively, my work-around attempt might have reduced the probability indeed).

You've found the big red flag in the posted segments, please post the complete journal for an oversight of what chips and modules are actually there and in use (and also lspci for conveninence)

Is that really needed? I am not experienced enough to know what sensitive data may be there. E.g., there are multiple blocks like "Gcr: sending the secret exchange" – I understand that those mostly contain public keys, but again, I am not an expert…
In the meantime, here is 'lspci -knn':

The most sensitive data the journal contains typically is an ip address (usually ip v6) that can be accessed from the public internet.
If you're worried about getting attacked on that address, replace the hex digits in it with letters above f.
To get help you will need to post the full journal though.
Moderator Note
We can't help with troubleshooting Endeavour OS installs.
If you want help on this forum you'll have to install archlinux on your system (dual booting arch & endevaour is ok) and post logs from the archlinux install.
I'm closing this thread now, once you have a working archlinux install use the report button and request re-opening.
Include some proof of running archlinux (like the output of pacman -Syu).
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
