Terminal emulators not working

I am using KDE Plasma with Arch (obviously) and recently, whenever I try to launch Konsole or Yakuake (yes that is a name), it instantly closes. I downloaded another terminal emulator (I had to use "Discover") called "Black Box", which led me into a Bash prompt unlike what should be reflected with my bashrc. I was able to use basic commands, and switched to another shell (zsh), then reran bash, which outputted the following:

archlinux% bash

Hello, and welcome back Y8V! The time is Mon Jun 22 12:51:38 PM EDT 2026.
bash: /home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/bin/is: /home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/opt/node/bin/node: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

As you can see, Bash is for some reason trying to access /home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/bin and /home/linuxbrew/opt/node, which do not exist. Note that in my my bashrc, I have written no commands that access those directories. Can somebody help me figure out the problem here? Thanks.

Re: Terminal emulators not working

did you maybe borrow someone else's dotfiles? as a first step, from a working shell (either zsh or whichever you prefer) you should probably check the contents of bash's startup files for interactive shells to see where the linuxbrew stuff is coming from. check whether your bashrc isn't sourcing other scripts too.

Re: Terminal emulators not working

Ok, I fixed the problem with linuxbrew, but that was not the real issue. Bash tried to refrence a command named "is", which is unreferenced in my bashrc, to make sure it was not in my bashrc, I grepped through my bashrc and it outputted the following lines:

echo Hello, and welcome back Y8V! The time is $date.
[ -f ~/.inshellisense/init/bash/init.sh ] && source ~/.inshellisense/init/bash/init.sh

This is weird.

I know that you know the answer and that it's really obvious so just tell me the answer.

Re: Terminal emulators not working

If you don't use or want `inshellisense`, just comment it out or remove it,  if you want it, just reinstall it globally so it binds to your correct, current Node path.

Nobody knows what kind of nonsense you put into your local bashrc.
The rest of us cannot know and you not knowing what's in your bashrc and why and you're also not looking is the reason for the NC

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.

Re: Terminal emulators not working

You're still sourcing inshellisense… it's the thing that's trying to call is, I thought you had understood that.

Edit: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nodejs-inshellisense lists https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … s-lts-jod/ as dependency which would provide node
