Greetings.
I had this error while updating on all three of my systems yesterday.
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings: /usr/lib/python3.14/site-packages/lightdm_gtk_greeter_settings/__pycache__/installation_config.cpython-314.pyc exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. I determined the best course of action having read the Wiki was to remove the lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings entirely. With pacman error now gone, I was able to carry on and get fully updated.
It's not a great loss not having the Lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings as I know all can be altered in etc/lightdm file. I'm just being lazy using GUI. ![]()
I think the conflict issue might be something to do with gtk3, that and I'm also using an X11 system maybe?
I do also wonder if using Xfce desktop on my PC's am I slowly been left behind regarding updates knowing it could be sometime before Xfce team fully moves to Wayland based desktop?

lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings 1.2.3-5 supplies the compiled python code file /usr/lib/python3.14/site-packages/lightdm_gtk_greeter_settings/__pycache__/installation_config.cpython-314.pyc which was not previously packaged and instead it was generated locally on your system when you ran lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings as root. You can reinstall lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings 1.2.3-5 after removing the mentioned file or using pacman's --overwrite option as covered in Pacman Failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) error.
