[SOLVED] Some Systemd services are failing
Hello,
Since the last system upgrade 2 days ago, some of the systemd services are failing at boot
I tried to search online for a similar case but no luck and I am unsure of the issue from looking at the logs
my apologies in advance if already reported and I missed it

Seems like multiple separate issues.
The elephant in the room: does this fail only now? The support for legacy SysV scripts has been removed in March.⁽¹⁾ There should be failures for months. This also raises a question of where the rc-local.service did come from. It’s no longer shipped by systemd. Some clarification, please.
If any error still appears after resolving the above, report relevant logs for each service separately.

Good question, I don't even use the rc-local at least not anymore
it used to be a temp fix for UFW not starting after boot for the user, forgot to remove it once the issue was cleared
almost similar story with Samba where noobish me was trying to set it up rather than using ssh for sharing
I will provide more logs shortly since the others are still failing

The right click of my usb mouse started acting up recently, I will replace it soon but selecting lines to copy/paste is painful

There is no package rsyslog in the official repos. So it’s a package you yourself are building. Perhaps you forgot to rebuild it after dependencies were updated?
As for thermald, they recently turned it off on some platforms (PR#562).⁽¹⁾ It’s possible your platform is not supported now.

I normally use yay but I went manual to make & install

Add the updated Qikk for rsyslog as well to illustrate the new status quo - rsyslog crashes w/ the same backtrace?

You're not supposed to start the syslog.socket this way, syslog.service is most likely linked to rsyslog (again)?
Does rsyslog still fail the same way after the rebuild?

LD_DEBUG=files rsyslogd can shed some light but also please enable https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Debuginfod (though I doubt there's s segfault out of libm)
You didn't do anything like symlinking libraries to fix resolver issues, did you?

I'd suggest to move from libfastjson to libfastjson-git to get the fixing patch.
Alternatively cherry-pick that patch or see whether you can contact the maintainer of the libfastjson AUR package so he can cherry-pick it.
I am not even supposed to get support for rsyslog through here
