I am attempting to use VR for the first time using SteamVR and a (used, good-condition) HTC Vive. After installing the software (including explicitly installing Vulkan, running "sudo pacman -Syu", and rebooting), I am able to use the headset for 25-35 seconds before Steam abruptly fails to communicate with the headset at all. When I've connected headphones to the headset, there is also a loud popping sound that happens at this moment. The headset does seem to operate correctly in this time, however -- it's just long enough that, if I'm quick, I can move through the steps to do room setup for SteamVR all the way up through calibrating the floor, and the picture shown as feedback for outlining the border of the play area accurately reflects the position of all my VR hardware (headset, 2 controllers, 2 base stations). If I continue to let SteamVR run after this disconnect moment, additional pops can be heard from headset-connected headphones about once every 30ish seconds.
If, instead of launching SteamVR (or if I close SteamVR after this disconnect error), I only connect headphones to the headset, I can use those headphones to listen to system audio uninterrupted and without error for at least 30 minutes.
Searching the forums and the wiki for Arch Linux in addition to Steam support threads and discussions attached to SteamVR have not yielded answers as to what is happening.

I note that this correlates with a "USB disconnect" followed by several errors. At 7:44:19, there is additional (repeated?) disconnects and errors, occurring at the exact moment the second pop can be heard from the headset headphones.

GyroRangeMode:3 AccelRangeMode:2As best as I can figure, something is causing the headset to disconnect from USB, but only when SteamVR is running. I am simply stumped as to where to trace further into my troubleshooting. Is it because two processes are trying to use the same device in... condradicting ways...? Or something? Is there perhaps a way to get the logs for SteamVR's side of the story on this disconnect?
Any help is appreciated.
