Can't select built-in speakers while headset is plugged in

I use an HP Victus 16 (VICTUS BY HP 16.1 INCH GAMING LAPTOP PC 16-E0000 (2V8Z8AV)), and for some reason I can't seem to select my built-in speakers while my headset is plugged in. Specifically, there's two profiles for my headset and speakers:

Headset plugged in (no option to select speakers):

No headset (option only shows up after unplugging, the only option too):

I can actually enable the speakers using

amixer -c2 sset Speaker [on/off]

and speaker-test plays noise through my headset and speakers simulatenously.
I've tried the Pro Audio profile but it only gives me these and they do nothing. The mic test gives a little bit of noise, and the output device doesn't output anything.

If this happens to be a configuration issue on my end, please give me steps to fix it. i have not touched anything else

Make sure you don't have conflicting sound servers running first and foremost

systemctl --user status pipewire{,-pulse} wireplumber pulseaudio

needs to either show wireplumber or pulseaudio existing, if they are both running then you'll have a logical conflict between which service tries to handle the incoming request, in which case you should lean towards preferring pipewire-pulse instead of pulseaudio, because the former is much more actively maintained.

If that isn't it, what output do you get from

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
pactl list cards
pactl list sinks
pactl list sink-inputs

before and after the fix

Nice copypasta tongue While the above advice is a good general thing to look at most of the time, it's unlikely to be related for your goal.

In most implementations the fact you plug in a headset will mute the speakers on a driver level and there's no userspace way to swap between them. ALSA and snd-hda-intel drivers have the concept of codec hints where you can configure indep_hp=true which should allow you such a logical split and using it at least with the Pro Profile. See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p2008741 and the rest of that thread as a starting point and adjust relevantly to your situation (e.g. wanting to manipulate card 2), if you have any questions, post them here, not there.

alsa recognizes all my audio devices just fine, its just pipewire screwing something up and making two profiles
pipewire, pipewire-pulse and wireplumber are all running, i dont have pulseaudio installed
i searched up pipewire-pulse and its a bridge for programs using pulseaudio, im concerned because what if not all programs use pipewire

That setup is fine, it's important to not have pulseaudio installed while having wireplumber active as the two would conflict, pipewire-pulse is fine and you should have that.

There's a lot of HiFi sinks here, which suggest the card is controlled via configs in the alsa-ucm-conf package which might further complicate things, but for this usecase if push comes to shove you should be able to disable UCM integration. If you mention ALSA detects things fine, can you do split playback if you skip pipewire and play to the ALSA devices directly already? Ah sorry read over that, so that works, then maybe disabling ucm would help https://pipewire.pages.freedesktop.org/ … html#rules so something like
