I recently installed Arch on my laptop, and Steam games crash instantly. I apologize since I'm new to Linux, but I'll do my best to provide as much info as possible. I installed with Archinstall.
System:
KDE Plasma 6.7.2

Sorry about the formatting. I installed the nvidia-open driver with
sudo pacman -S nvidia-openOffline
There seem to be some reports of this error that may be helpful.

I had a very similar problem today. But my vulkan init errors on Steam startup were mentioning things about the kernel version I was using (6.1). Also I'm using Manjaro.
I found that setting "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" in the Launch Options for Sonic Mania got it to run properly. But when I tried it for Clair Obscur it would only start the game and then freeze immediately.
I then tried updating my linux kernel and set it to 6.18:
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux618 Setting the kernel to 6.18 and restarting my computer resolved everything for me. I found I could clear the Launch Options for both Sonic Mania and Clair Obscur, too. So setting to a different kernel version was enough to resolve my problem.
I don't think this is the exact solution you will need, but it makes me believe resolving those vulkan init errors will likely fix your problem. Good luck!
