I got tired of installing a distribution just to then start removing a ton of packages that I don't want.
With Arch I just need to worry about which packages to install, now which packages to install and remove.

I use a lot of hand-me-down ancient hardware, and my Gentoo at the time did not have binary packages, so Arch was a good compromise. It still is.
