I have recently installed Arch linux and use hyprland most of my programs run fine but I wanted to play Football Manager 2024 and the game intantly crashes and I get an SI message to report a crash. Has anyone encountered a similar problem with other games and fixed it?

Post the error, add
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%to the launch options in steam and post the resulting log file in your home dir upon reproduction, your first stop for general compat should be protondb https://www.protondb.com/app/2252570 which suggests the thing should generally work well and if it doesn't then not in a way that would be an instant crash.

How? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Genera … way_street

Sorry it is true someone may need this. FM24 crashed because my GPU only supports Mesa's legacy hasvk Vulklan driver ANV driver didn't support hardware. Newer proton versions don't run hasvk. I pinned FM24 to Proton 9.0 in Steam's compatibility tool override (CompatToolMapping in Steam's config.vdf). I also made a back up of the orginal config files in case i need them. You can confirm what's happening with PROTON_LOG=1, which writes a log to
~/steam-<appid>.log.

There's stuff like DXVK Sarek which aims to maintain a somewhat updated branch of dxvk with old vulkan compat, Afaik it's officially integrated in proton-cachyos together with the PROTON_DXVK_SAREK=1 environment variable. So if you ever want/need to run a more up to date proton might give that a try via Protonup-QT or so, or https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/proton-cachyos-slr
