very slow wifi speeds on mt7925e chip

hi, I have a asrock b850m phantom riptide mobo with a mediatek mt7925e as a wifi card, and since i bought it i'm registering very low download speeds. this happens with both iwd and wpa_supplicant. is it a driver issue? it seems to happen on both the zen and vanilla kernel. i'm now on the latest vanilla, 7.1.6-arch1-1.
as an example of how slow it is, i'm on a 100Mbps plan, and it's going on the low 2Mbps as for the latest test i took.
i remember it working some time ago and now it stopped working again

A popular way to fudge this is to forget to connect the stub antenna (so the radio is captured by the EM shielding PC case…) however that would be defeated by

On a 2.4GHz connection bluetooth might interfere.

If you boot eg. https://grml.org/ - does the wifi perform better (ie can we rule out hardware or radio interference)?

i can confirm having the mediatek firmware package installed.
i'm downloading the iso and gonna update you in due time on that front

edit it seems to not be working at all in the iso you suggested

So the signal is "meh", transmit speed is "just above 802.11a/g" - the receive rate is an obvious problem.

But the RX/TX disparity could be explained by powersaving ("mt7925e.disable_aspm=Y", https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … interfaces ) or bluetooth interference (if this is 2.4GHz and the same antenna)

Speaking of windows: are you dual booting?

it was not aspm, just tried the kernel parameter. bluetooth is off and on the same bandwidth my phone speedtests are around 80Mbps.

If it's not the power saving and affects both bands your bet shot is to look at older firmware versions

trying older firmwares, i find a small regression since the april's one. with the april 10th package i reach 20Mbps, which is not what i pay for but it's definitely an improvement

On 5GHz you'll not face interference from bluetooth, DECT, microwaves, …

tx retries actually looks bad-ish, too - you're re-sending ~1/4 of packages.

Leaving power saving aside, does the performance drastically improve w/ the signal (ie. when getting closer to the AP - 5GHz isn't as good w/ distance or walls)
If the signal doesn't get better w/ distance
