Sometimes I can't get some services to start

I want to know why services fail to start, but specifically this one:

sudo systemctl start samba
Job for samba.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status samba.service" and "journalctl -xeu samba.service" for details.

samba just stopped working
it would wouldn't fail because of the conf file, would it?

cat /etc/samba/smb.conf
[global]
   workgroup = WORKGROUP
   server string = Samba Server
   netbios name = samba
   security = share


[public]
   path = /home/amine/Downloads/ABDM/Compressed
   browseable= yes
   read only = yes
   writable = no
   guest ok = yes

Aug 09 01:39:55 koko samba[4649]:   'server role = active directory domain controller' or the rpc proxy with 'dcerpc endpoint servers = remote'

For file sharing you should run smb.service, not samba.service.

Ok, still

systemctl start smb

using the official one then https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/curren … l/smb.conf

I'll add more later so I'm not marking this thread as solved yet (

Note at the bottom of that page:

VERSION
This man page is correct for version 2.2 of the Samba suite.

My advice is to always refer to the documentation that corresponds to the software version. https://man.archlinux.org/man/smb.conf.5
