System Lock-up

This questions isn't really Arch specific, but I didn't know where else to put it.

Basically, I used to be an arch user a while ago, but for about the last six months I've been using windows(with school and everything I havn't done much other than browsing and IMing). Recently, randomly every once in a while when I would be using windows, the screen would go black and then it would retart itself after a minute.  I figured it might be something with windows, so I reinstalled Arch and tried that. Well, now in Arch, every once in a while my system randomly freezes up too, but the screen will stay up and it will kind of update about every five seconds. So every five seconds the mouse will move to wherever the mouse would've moved if the system was working fine and the speakers will play half a second of the song I was listening to.

The system is about 3 or 4 years old, it's an Athlon XP 2400+ with 512M RAM.  I tried cleaning out the heatsink and it didn't do anything. The CPU temperatures seem normal.  The freezing seems to happen mostly when I'm using Firefox, especially with a couple tabs open. I tried using Opera instead, but it still froze.

Some other information is that recently I installed xubuntu where my old arch install was to try it out.  In he process, I resized my / partition and changed some of it to a FAT32 partition with the xubuntu installer(I needed more space for music and I wanted it to be accessible by both windows and linux). When I would boot windows, this partition would be detected and show up in my computer, but the windows installer would open, saying something about a disk volume, and never complete successfully. I'm pretty sure my computer never crashed in xubuntu either.

So yeah, any help would be appreciated. I didn't really know where else to turn other than here.

Re: System Lock-up

Ok, after some more investigation through the logs and investigation on google, I'm 90% sure it's my video card that's causing the problem on arch.

I need to fix the nvidia drivers apparently. Something with agpgart.

I'll try to figure it out by myself unless someone wants to help me out.
