Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

HI fellas!

I am from Santa Catarina, Brazil, studying in my second year of CS. Recently I received from my dad his old laptop and then decided to play around with a linux distro on it because I never tried it on my own computer. I chose Arch Linux because I wanted high customization and I am not worried about stability. I have some experience with Debian without GUI in the last two years  in a way to get along with the CLI and VIM.

I expect to make new friends in this community as well as help the people around me while also learning more about the system itself.
Thank you!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

It was my friend recommended me to try Arch Linux. I found installing software packages is really convenient in arch linux by using `pacman` or `paru`. I will recently try to finish some CTF(Capture The Flag) chanllenges on archlinux which used to be done on Windows.
Really happy to join the forum! big_smile

I was thinking of a non‑repeating username one day, and realized I can trace a continuous v‑shape on the qwerty keyboard.@aminepro

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hey all! Just became a full-time Arch user literally yesterday after toying around with it for a short while. Converted my main desktop at home, my work PC (luckily I have the flexibility to do that), and going to migrate my laptop tonight.
I am VERY excited to be here, and if I may... to any of the amazing contributors who may read this: holy jeebus and crackers, this entire infrastructure is amazing. THANK YOU ALL!!
I find it absolutely mindblowing that computing can still be so community-driven and cool, despite everything going on in the world today, and I'm just excited to be a part of it. I'll be doing my best to learn as much as I can, and I hope to be able to meaningfully contribute to this project myself some day.
One last time, thank you SO MUCH to everyone who already does! <3

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi, everyone! Been using Arch Linux for over half a year now, used Fedora a year prior to jumping here.

There's always so much to learn here with a real sense of community. I am genuinely enjoying my time here going down into so many rabbit holes and discovering many nuanced approaches from such diverse people.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi all,

I haven't been around in awhile. I ran Arch for a long time and then work got in the way. I didn't want to invest the time needed to maintain my system(s) back then so I went back to windows. I went from there to running some VM's with proxmox and finally dual booting with Ubuntu LTS. But things change, I'm semi-retired now and had been wanting to try something different for some time. So, I installed Arch a couple days ago. I think that covers the last several years. smile

Also, I was really surprised I could login with my old username.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi guys! Ive been messing around with linux for a long time dualbooting my main pc with Debian jail breaking a Chromebook and trying lots of distros. Recently i got a laptop for pretty cheap off ebay and decided to test out arch. Suprisingly easy to install and very nice to configure and use in general! Its definitely taking the place of debian as my favorite distro and i dont know how i ever lived without it! Its really such a great distro and it has a great community as well (: i dont know how i ever lived without it nowadays!
