[SOLVED] Changing resolution of monitor?

I'm currently trying to connect a huge monitor (https://www.amazon.com/INNOCN-Ultrawide-Monitor-FreeSync-Premium/dp/B09N3G9T16 this one specifically) to my computer. When I plug it in through a regular HDMI port, it's able to recognize its native 3440 x 1440 aspect ratio. However, I connected it & another monitor through a USB docking station to have dual monitors, via DisplayLink and evdi-dkms. Now, it's capped at 1920 x 1080.
When trying to add a new mode for the correct resolution via xrandr, I'm greeted with this:

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  140 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  21 (RRSetCrtcConfig)
  Value in failed request:  0x780
  Serial number of failed request:  35
  Current serial number in output stream:  35

I went into a little research regarding the Kernel mode setting / EDID file, but a lot of the jargon was going straight over my head -- super noob at this kind of stuff. Please hold my hand and explain this to me like I'm five ?

Does that say "wayland"?

1. you could copy the edid file when the output is directly connected and then inject that file intothe system to override the edid through the dock
2. are you sure the dock allows for that resolution? Have you checked its specs itr?

2 was right... Foolishly, the docker caps anything out at 1920x1200 maximum. I hoped for the convienence of being able to have 1 plug for everything, but I'll keep the bigger monitor in the HDMI port. Thank you, lol.

Altering the tool won't change that.
