No space left in NVRAM

Hi All,
I am currently using a one of the spec of Asus Zenbook released in 2024

I am currently seeing this when I try to delete the stale boot records

```
[root@archlinux ~]# efibootmgr
BootCurrent: 0001
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0001,0005,0000,0003,0006
Boot0000* Windows Boot Manager    HD(1,GPT,45c46639-0a71-4540-916c-56452fdbf87c,0x800,0x82000)/\EFI\MICROSOFT\BOOT\BOOTMGFW.EFI57494e444f5753000100000088000000780000004200430044004f0042004a004500430054003d007b00390064006500610038003600320063002d0035006300640064002d0034006500370030002d0061006300630031002d006600330032006200330034003400640034003700390035007d00000000000100000010000000040000007fff0400
Boot0001* arch    HD(5,GPT,6ae4add5-e0c7-49fd-b961-1dec58733315,0x23705800,0x400000)/\EFI\arch\grubx64.efi
Boot0003* UEFI: HP USB Flash Drive 2.00, Partition 1    PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x14,0x0)/USB(3,0)/HD(1,GPT,1e5a8d5e-b033-400a-9aac-6b1230fbe90c,0x800,0x752f7c0)0000424f
Boot0006* Fedora    HD(1,GPT,45c46639-0a71-4540-916c-56452fdbf87c,0x800,0x82000)/\EFI\fedora\shimx64.efi0000424f
[root@archlinux ~]# efibootmgr -b 6 -B
Could not delete variable: No space left on device
[root@archlinux ~]#
[root@archlinux ~]#
```

Strangely I am not able to delete the Fedora and one Debian boot records, I even tried deleting from the UEFI of Asus still doesn't work
In UEFI menu it says deleted successfully just to reappear after a reboot

Re: No space left in NVRAM

The kernel mounts NVRAM with a "paranoia" mode where it doesn't do writes anymore if the efivars reports more than 50% occupation. Since your goal is getting rid of stuff this might be counter productive, you can boot the kernel with the efi_no_storage_paranoia kernel parameter which should allow this write to go through

But if this doesn't even work from the UEFI itself this could still be something there you can't really do much about, maybe do a UEFI update? Most vendors will wipe NVRAM in that case anyway.

Re: No space left in NVRAM

if it ghost-deletes in EFI setup itself and reappears in efivarfs/efibootmgr when you boot arch, without you even booting to fedora, my money's on your NVRAM being cooked. the things DO have limited writes, but usually you never hit the lifetime until/unless there a manufacturing flaw.

if that laptop was *made* in 2024 as well, it should still be under warranty.

first try clearing your DBX in SecureBoot (yes, even if you don't have it enabled). that can take up a beefy amount of space.
if the issue doesn't resolve after that, i'd open a ticket with Asus.
