Fluxbox: backgrounds

I have downloaded a few styles, and put them in ~/.fluxbox/styles and ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds. When I use them, the background doesn't change with the style. How do I use the new backgrounds?

Re: Fluxbox: backgrounds

Take a look at the styles files in the text editor. Look for a line like this:

rootCommand:    bsetbg ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/mybackground.jpg

It might have various parameters attached to it.  Make sure that the path points to a valid file.

Also, you need to make sure bsetbg is installed on your system. I think it comes with flux, but I'm not sure. Try running it manually from the commandline and see if it works.

Re: Fluxbox: backgrounds

bsetbg does come with fluxbox.  Just noticed that it doesn't, however, with fluxbox-devel, in that case, my workaround was to install windowmaker and use wmsetbg.

Added an hour later--this was because I didn't RTFM. In their devel-faq it's clearly stated that one now uses fbsetbg.  smile

Re: Fluxbox: backgrounds

that's why I didn't know if it came with fluxbox then. :-D I had bsetbg with fluxbox, but lost it with fluxbox devel.

Re: Fluxbox: backgrounds

I like to use Esetroot, which comes with Eterm.
