Hello, when I plug in my USB stick, thunar-volman throws up this error:
A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")
I haven't changed any of the files in /etc/dbus-1/
I belong to the following groups:
disk wheel games dbus hal network video audio optical storage scanner users shutdown
Much appreciated, thanks.

Exactly the same problem - and also cannot load removable media in gxine. Must be related.

Try this howto out in the wiki. I did this and no more 'hal error messages'.
.: before you start waving flags, you better know what you stand for :.

seems the "security policy" issue is solely a dependency problem. Make sure 'fam' and 'hal' are in your daemons line (rc.conf). Should work as well as HAL can from thereon.
