Plasma applets using Kirigami's InlineMessage fail to load [SOLVED]

I've encountered this problem twice now, spent loads of time figuring it out, and want to post the solution. The error will say something like:

Cannot assign object of type "Primitives.IconPropertiesGroup" to property of type "IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_NNN*"

This time it was the sound volume applet not loading, but it can affect the network manager, folder view, and system settings too. This mainly happens if you have the system monitor on a panel or desktop, which is why it's hard to track down. A bug in qt (6.12.0 w/Kirigami 6.31.0) causes type checks to fail when libKirigami knows the type by it's compiled-in url of qrc:/something, but the applet knows the type as file:/something froim its .qrc file. The types should match but don't, so applets will fail to load with this fairly opaque error message.

Disabling the prefer directives makes sure every type url is of the same scheme (qrc:/).

sudo find /usr/lib/qt6/qml/org/kde/kirigami -name qmldir -exec sed -i 's/^prefer /#prefer /' {} \;
plasmashell --replace &

This will be overwritten by kirigami updates until the problem is fixed in qt.
