rust 1:1.98.1-2 is in extra-staging, the current version in extra is 1:1.98.1-1.
libcore.rmeta comes from linux-lts-headers, so maybe it's built with a newer rustc.

I would guess linux-lts-headers was compiled with the newer rustc, since it ships the libcore.rmeta file and has a make dependency on rust.

The problem occurs if `extra-testing` is enabled and the rust version is later than that in `extra`. Downgrading to the `extra` version allows the DKMS to build.

it works:

At least the LTS kernel at the time was build w/ a rust version that only existed in the staging repos at the time (and is now in testing)
The 7.2.8 kernel is (apparently, still and correctly) compiled against rust 1.98.1 from extra.

This is a packaging bug in the LTS kernel that should™ not have been compiled w/ a rust version in staging (or arguably an upstream bug for prematurely introducing an unstable language leading up to such situations…)

The important part here is the bcachefs DKMS failure, not the firmware warnings.

`bcachefs/v1.39.6` is failing to build against `6.18.53-1-lts`, which then causes the `bcachefs` module to be missing when `mkinitcpio` runs. The `ast`, `xhci_pci_renesas`, `aic94xx`, etc. firmware messages are generally just warnings about hardware you probably don't have.

The next thing I'd check is the actual `make.log`, since that's where the reason for the DKMS build failure will be. In particular, please post the output of:

```

Also check whether you actually need the DKMS bcachefs package. If you're not using bcachefs, removing that DKMS package and the `bcachefs` hook from `mkinitcpio.conf` may be the simplest solution.

If you are using bcachefs, then the `make.log` is essential before changing anything else, because it should show exactly which kernel API/build error is causing the module compilation to fail.

rust was updated in staging on 10/12 and 10/11 and the lts kernel built against the version from 10/11

As long as the LTS kernel gets build in staging your only option is to fish the exact version out of https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/r/rust/ and install that
Longterm, the kernels will either have to be rebuilt when moving out of staging/testing or can only be moved in sync w/ the rust package

Though arguably in this case the version check is simply too strict, both are "rustc 1.99.0 / b940084d7"
