New version of kicad package 10.0.7-2 is not working right
I can run it, but it appears to randomly stop during operation, shows message:
An assertion failed!
/usr/src/debug/wxwidgets/wxWidgets/src/unix/utilsx11.cpp(2645): assert ""Assert failure"" failed in wxGetKeyStateGTK(): Unsupported key 370, the only supported ones are: Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock for GTK 3.18+
Choosing Stop or Continue freezes and kicad crashes.

Can’t reproduce, but a very similar issue has been reported upstream 3 days ago:
(…) Pressing a hotkey causes KiCad to complete the associated hotkey action. Every hotkey I've tested also creates error two popups notifying the user of a failed assertion. KiCad seems to be completely usable, but frequent error popups significantly hinder my workflow.
After pressing 'Ctrl+z' to undo in the PCB editor, the following error appears (both as a popup and in the terminal):
(… same as yours …)
The popup also gives the following backtrace:
SSERT INFO: /usr/src/debug/wxwidgets/wxWidgets/src/unix/utilsx11.cpp(2645): assert ""Assert failure"" failed in wxGetKeyStateGTK(): Unsupported key 90, the only supported ones are: Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Caps Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock for GTK 3.18+ BACKTRACE: [1] wxGetKeyState(wxKeyCode) [2] wxEvtHandler::ProcessEventIfMatchesId(wxEventTableEntryBase const&, wxEvtHandler*, wxEvent&) [3] wxEvtHandler::SearchDynamicEventTable(wxEvent&) [4] wxEvtHandler::TryHereOnly(wxEvent&) [5] wxEvtHandler::ProcessEventLocally(wxEvent&) [6] wxEvtHandler::ProcessEvent(wxEvent&) [7] wxScrollHelperEvtHandler::ProcessEvent(wxEvent&) [8] wxEvtHandler::SafelyProcessEvent(wxEvent&) [9] g_closure_invoke [10] g_signal_emit_valist [11] g_signal_emit [12] gtk_window_propagate_key_event [13] g_closure_invoke [14] g_signal_emit_valist [15] g_signal_emit [16] gtk_main_do_event [17] g_main_loop_run [18] gtk_main [19] wxGUIEventLoop::DoRun() [20] wxEventLoopBase::Run() [21] wxAppConsoleBase::MainLoop() [22] wxEntry(int&, wchar_t**) [23] __libc_start_mainThe error message always appears twice: Once immediately after pressing the hotkey, and once after completing the hotkey's action. Sometimes when 'Ctrl+z' is pressed, a pair of these errors for key 26 also appears. Sometimes when 'Ctrl+y' is pressed, a pair for key 25 also appears.
When editing schematics, I've tested the default 'a', 'p', 'Ctrl+x', 'Ctrl+v', 'Ctrl+z', and 'Ctrl-y' hotkeys and all of them give the same error. When editing PCBs, I've tested the default 'b', 'x', 'Ctrl+x', 'Ctrl+v', 'Ctrl+z', and 'Ctrl+y' hotkeys and all of them give the same error. The error for each key shows the ASCII decimal code of the key pressed in the errors shown above (Unsupported key <ASCII Decimal Code>).
No errors appear when giving mouse inputs to KiCad. No errors appear when clicking on a hotkey's action in the top menu bar (Edit > Fill All Zones instead of pressing the hotkey 'b').

@zarco, please use

tags.
90 would be Z, no idea about 370 but from the bug it seems ctrl+z is mis-filtered as Shift+z being the modifier.
Might be exposed through https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/c … 78705e15ae
As for the cause/reproducibility : is this X11 or wayland/xwayland?
Offline
@seth, this is wayland.
I've a screenshot of the dialog window with same message but Unsupported key 77 instead of 370

That's "M", do you get the same errors on X11 or when explicitly setting
GDK_BACKEND=x11 WAYLAND_DISPLAY= kicadFor ancient reference https://stackoverflow.com/questions/732 … land-issue
Offline
Using GDK_BACKEND=x11 WAYLAND_DISPLAY= kicad same behavior, I tried to open PCB editor and assertion fail, but with different message:
[/usr/src/debug/wxwidgets/wxWidgets/src/unix/glegl.cpp(703): assert ""Assert failure"" failed in CreateSurface(): Unable to create EGL surfaceOffline
Both upstream reports are on kwin_wayland, what specific wayland compositor are you using and can you test some random X11 session (openbox or twm will do)?
@mpan, for contrast: on what environment can't you reproduce this?
Offline
My system is running kwin_wayland. Sorry but can't test now.

X11 (xorg)

Methinks them plot is thickening…
@zarco try at least some other compositor

WXSUPPRESS_SILLY_ASSERTS is - unfortunately - not a thing ![]()
Openbox will most likely not exhibit this problem, the more interesting question is then whether eg. weston, labwc, niri, sway, hyprland or some other wayland compositor does.
