[SOLVED] CUPS no longer printing double-sided properly

Ever since I update my CUPS driver to 2:2.4.20-1, whenever I try to print double-sided from any software, it defaults to short-sided (no-tumble) and does not respect long or short sided settings from anywhere the option is available. Is there a workaround?

I'm on Plasma 6.8 with kernel 7.2.10-arch1-1; as stated, I'm using cups- 2:2.4.20-1. Previous version was working as expected.

All printer firmware is up to date and drivers are the same as before the CUPS update.

This is essential for my line of work, so any help to fix this would be appreciated. Even if it's just to confirm that it's a bug.

lpoptions -o sides=two-sided-long-edge

No. lpoptions is not changing this behaviour.

Double sided printing with long-edge always worked, until this update.

I wonder if my situation is also because of the switch from poppler to pdfio? I'll downgrade and see if that helps.

Edit:

I had to downgrade to libcupsfilters 2.2.1-2 for it to work again. In my case, r23, r28, and r32 don't obey the options that have to do with scaling, flipping, orientation, and tumbling (that I can test, so far). So, I'd say there's a regression from the earlier versions of 2.2.1 that's back in the above-mentioned releases.

Maybe you can sidestep the problem if the printer supports https://www.pwg.org/ipp/everywhere.html
