Plasma 6 crash can't boot into SDDM anymore

I was playing a game on steam earlier today (The First Descendant) after trying to shutdown the game KDE Plasma crashes on me and becomes unresponsive. I try to reboot but nothing works in KDE, I switch to a different tty and do a reboot via (systemctl reboot). Now my system hangs at a black screen and when reaching "starting graphical interface" in the boot process. I tried to boot with the single kernel parameter and that goes into rescue mode for reason? I thought that adding single as a boot parameter would just bypass the graphical boot part and let me reach a tty. Because right now I just get black screen and I can't switch tty or anything. I have no updates of my machine today. I am running KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland with AMD 9060 RX card. To it seems like my KDE session is borked but I can't get it to boot SDDM. Any ideas what to do here?

Did you do an update recently?  openexr-3.5.3-2 has an issue which stops SDDM and plasmalogin working.  openexr-3.5.3-3 fixes the problem, and is already in the repos.

Re: Plasma 6 crash can't boot into SDDM anymore

I did an update yesterday. I have openexr 3.5.3-3 installed now. I got everything working after disabling sddm.service and installing plasma-login-manager. But the login screen is now very sluggish when I type on my keyboard but I can log in and KDE session is fine.

But [plasma-login-manager] is […] very sluggish when I type on my keyboard but I can log in and KDE session is fine.

Retried SDDM?

No, for now I have uninstalled sddm and sddm-kcm.

I don't use sddm, but I had a similar problem with "plasma greeter" not being shown. What worked for me was to reinstall the package systemd.

Re: Plasma 6 crash can't boot into SDDM anymore

I reinstalled sddm and sddm-kcm plus systemd just now and enables sddm.service (after turning off plasmalogin.service). Now I can boot my machine just fine again with sddm? Very strange. What is recommended for KDE as of now, SDDM or Plasma Login Manager?

SDDM defaults to X11, afaiu PLM is wayland only - technically you don't need a DM at all, otherwise use any one that works for you.
As for PLM being sluggish, does it leave any errors in the initramfs?

Where do I check for errors in the initramfs for PLM? Just run journalctl -xb in a tty while I am in PLM?

Re: Plasma 6 crash can't boot into SDDM anymore

skip the "-x" but check "sudo journalctl -b" any time after running PLM (eg. after the login)
