[SOLVED] Understanding pacman download failures and install
While upgrading the system today, I observed that some packages fail to download, but it seems the installation of those package still succeed?
Some excerpt output from my pacman --sync --refresh --sysupgrade command:

And then, the package was upgraded anyway. I do not understand what is going on here. I even tried the command again, and then it says there is nothing to upgrade.
Would like some ideas or clarifications.

Without being able to reproduce the situation, I’m limited to guesses.
I may speculate that the mirror sent all HTTP/2 frames that delivered the package content, but failed to send the next frame.
As long as the packages were correctly verified (“checking package integrity”), everything is fine with the installation itself.

well - that's why it's a LIST - it has several mirrors in it (should have at least a couple)
so if one mirror fails it is skipped and the next one is used
be aware: this CAN lead to issues if the mirrors are out-of-sync becuase the database is NOT redownloaded but kept from the initial mirror
so if mirror #1 has a different database (and bank of packages provided) than a fallback mirror #2 then you will end up with error messages that package-v42 gave a 404 -> which leads to using the next mirror
tl;dr: mirror.kernel.org seem to was overloaded at the point of update so pacman automatically used the next mirror in your mirrorlist
if you encounter this again may consider switching to another more stable mirror

Yes, I use more than one mirror in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.
I remember having problems like you describe in the past, and also having a problem with installing one package from one mirror, and then some other related package from another mirror that was not completely synced, and their required versions didn't match, and the installation failed.
