I have a microsoft explorer mouse with a middle mouse wheel/button. Just as in windows, when I click the middle button it brings up a scroll symbol and let's me scroll the page using the mouse; well, it did. Now it's gone and the middle button is acting strange.
My xorg.conf hasn't been changed and imwheel is running with the same options as usual. I may have uninstalled some software that is needed but I can't remember what.
Is there a particular piece of software which controls this or a certain setting somewhere?

You could check /var/log/pacman.log to see the packages that you recently removed.

Thanks. I've checked the log but didn't find anything that would have caused the problem.

Another thing to check: Did you upgraded any mouse/xorg related packages recently? Maybe an upgrade broke your mouse setup. I'm just guessing...

I only had to change from mouse0 to mouse1 in xorg.conf (despite that, it's still the same) due to the kernel upgrade but it still worked fine as usual.
I'll figure it out somehow but any more suggestions will be welcome.

Did it do this in all programs before?

I told you I'd figure it out didn't I?
In firefox about:config -> general.autoscroll -> true

my mouse has 3 buttons and 2 axis mouse wheel, but i use the evdev driver anyway, because it has lower latency. I may probably switch to evdev for the keyboard too. evdev is a driver for usb devices.

Using evdev the wheel seems to work better.
