pacman -Syu question

Ok if I install 0.7.2 as a fresh install and then do the following command.

pacman -Syu

Does this just upgrade the systems packages and kernel?  Or does it take me to a whole new version of Arch i.e. 0.8.   If it does take you to 0.8, is there a way to upgrade the packages and kernel without moving to a beta version of Arch?

If you run pacman -Syu you get the actual current packages including kernel and system packages.

Arch has no "Beta" Versions, only the install Cd's are "Beta"

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Re: pacman -Syu question

its HIGHLY recommended (the ftp cd if u have a decent internet connection) to use those "beta" versions instead of the 0.7.2 cd. the changes have been rather dramatic since spring 2006

Yeah, installation of arch has not had any dramatic change but, the little change it has undergone are worth it. wink
