Re: gFTP problems

I use gftp quite a bit and haven't had any problems. I dont use it for any heavy uploading though.
Try running it from a terminal to see if it throws up any error messages.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: gFTP problems

If wxpython is OK:  http://ftpcube.sourceforge.net/

If it interest someone, let me know. I have already a PKGBUILD for it.

I don't know. I just checked the PKGBUILD.

OK, I'll add it to AUR sometimes.

Re: gFTP problems

Perhaps a lot of the decent Windows FTP clients will work via Wine? Might be worth a try.

Re: gFTP problems

I use gFTP and I don't have problems at all. The ftpclient that works pretty well with ssl and fxp is Kasablanca (you need kdelibs with some other libs - 25 Mb - if you don't use kde) and is in AUR.
But the best ftp client for me is lftp (under terminal). wink

Re: gFTP problems

I've too noticed gftp likes to close suddenly while performing lengthy queues.

Re: gFTP problems

I'll put ftpcube in AUR when I'll have time. Meanwhile, here's the PKGBUILD. BTW, I couldn't make  the sftp feature work. I don't know if it depends on the server I wanted to connect to or because of something else.

pkgname=ftpcube
pkgver=0.5.1
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="A graphical ftp/sftp client with an interface based on LeechFTP"
arch=('i686')
url="http://ftpcube.sourceforge.net/"
license=("custom:artistic" "GPL")
depends=('wxpython')
install=ftpcube.install
source=(http://dl.sourceforge.net/ftpcube/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz)
md5sums=('3eb93ae44fa552ec50a24b7882198dd1')

build() {
  cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver
  sed -i 's|/usr/local|/usr|' setup.cfg
  sed -i "s|'libftpcube/icons'|'libftpcube/icons', 'libftpcube/transports'|" setup.py
  python setup.py build
  python setup.py install --root=$startdir/pkg
  install -d $startdir/pkg/usr/share/licenses/custom/$pkgname
  install -m644 COPYING* $startdir/pkg/usr/share/licenses/custom/$pkgname
}
post_install() {
  cat << EOF
==> To enable sftp support:
==> 'pacman -S python-paramiko'
EOF
}

post_upgrade() {
  post_install $1
}

op=$1
shift
$op $*

Thank you for mentioning this. I tried it out and have already used it about 200 times! Very handy, and best yet it's right where I need it inside FF! No need to monkey around without app when I'm already in FF half the time. big_smile
