Hi @ all
I use kmail
I try to backup my emails
The mails are stored in ~fk/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/
If I copy the complete folder, to my USB Stick, only the folder structure are copyed.
If I try to copy each mail one after another, I get an error, the mail cannot copyed.
I have try this with and without X, and with konqueror and konsole, and as root or user.
Can anyone say me how I can backup my mails?

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Yes, kmail backup is a pain ![]()
Some time ago i made some scripts to handle this task more or less comfortable... They use kdialog, so you can use them only with KDE...
Here they are: http://funkyou.hinterhof-hosting.de/kmail-backup.tar.gz
You _have_ to modify at least the two variables $STOREFLDR and $TEMPFLDR at the beginning of _both_ scripts to make it work... Then you can make them executable and simply start them with a double-click and kdialog will show you some nice progress ![]()
The scripts do not only make a backup of your mails, but also of all contact info of kmail, kopete and friends...
btw: scripts are completely in german

Big Thanks for these scripts.
I have try it, but when I extract the bz2 archiv manually in another location, I only see the folders not the mails...
Is this normal?

Hm, dont know... These scripts work for a long time for me, and i dont have any problems with them...
What about the filesize of the backup? Is it also very small?
