Most stable, secure, fast web browser? In that order :p

Just wanting to know peoples opinions on the most stable, secure, fast web browser for Arch. I've been using Firefox but it seems to be slow on start up, buggy and has a delayed reaction feel to it, it's driving me nuts. Is using Konqueror alright? I mean is it more dangerous to use like IE is to Win because it's the actual file explorer program as well as internet browser?

I use Konqueror just about all of the time. To get the speed up, I added this the the bottom of my /etc/profile.d/kde.sh to disable IPv6:

export KDE_NO_IPV6=TRUE

It's extremely stable, feature rich, and from what I understand, it's very secure. It's also nice on the eyes if you use KDE.

Swiftfox with correctly setup fonts looks quite nice in KDE.

I use Kazehakase. A nice lightweight browser that uses the gecko engine. It doesn't have much features, but I live.

I'm curiouse, does anybody know of a good browser that uses gtkhtml rendering engine? I have heard this engine is quite nice and would like to check out any browsers that use. Thanks and sorry for being a bit off topic.

I use konqueror. Looks great with minimal configuration (for my nvidia card, DPI 96x96 was about the end of the story), and has handled all the advanced web content I've thrown at it so far...

I've almost entirely moved to konqueror from opera, with privoxy set up as a local proxy to get rid of ads (especially flash ones - I don't think konqueror's adblock is capable of handling them), and my browsing experience is the most enjoyable.

I've tried others, but I can't really get away from Firefox.  It has too many features I'm too used to for me to want to switch.

I'm the same way.  Plus the fact that firefox is not OS specific, it lets me feel comfortable on any platform.

Re: GtkHTML

According to the website, it's planned for Kazehakase to be able to switch between rendering engines, including GtkHTML, at some stage.
Other than that there don't seem to be any.  A few abandoned projects was all I could find - Barque and pyleon.

Anyone know of any?  I suppose with KHTML and Gecko based browsers as good as they are there's no need.

It's free and runs on Linux. Beyond that, I don't really care. I'd rather use the closed-source best than the open-source second-best.

Re: Most stable, secure, fast web browser? In that order :p

I had attempted to switch from firefox to konqueror for a really long time, but somehow I always fell back on firefox. Now I have been using konqueror for a while and I must say I do not miss anything any more. Since I have a subnotebook with a resolution of only 1024x768 I really like to be able to quickly get rid of the menu and enter full screen mode. Much better browser experience. If something does not work (actually all works for me), there is always right click --> open with [whatever]. smile

Re: Most stable, secure, fast web browser? In that order :p

I use Opera. Works on all oses I use.. all features I need come standard.

I never liked firefox (too slow), when I still used windows (like 3 years ago) I used a highly modified kmeleon rather then opera. But there's not really a OS browser like it for linux. Just got the newest firefox and it hangs a lot of times on some websites, feels like using really crappy software.

I tend to use quite old computers so speed and memory use is very important.

elinks is also very nice, graphical links is ok.

I really don't like the marketing around firefox and all those zealots. (Just like I don't like AnInconvenientTruth by Al Gore, we knew it already for years but somehow people only believe it when they see some politician in a smoking telling them "the truth" in a flashy film. -- jeez how off topic )

I'm a Firefox guy. It does everything I need, it's a bit slow to start but once it is up it's just fine.
