bizarre xmms problem

For some odd reason my XMMS volume slider is not working.  It does not work if I run XMMS from the root account or my local account.  To get around this I have been using the alsamixer on the console to set the master volume to what I want.  I guess I just think it would be nice to set the master volume once and then use the XMMS volume slider to adjust volume accordingly.

Any ideas?

Re: bizarre xmms problem

Some reason I thought xmms was the "standard" for linux.  What do most people use for listening to music?

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: bizarre xmms problem

There are tons of good players. xmms is dead - even its devs abandoned it to write xmms2
