DE hopping.
My distro hopping stopped with Arch. Now I find myself DE hopping. 
I'm torn between gnome and xfce but openbox is also cool to play with; Might buy myself two more monitors and have a different DE on each one. 
Intel i7-920 (stock), ASUS P6TD-Deluxe, AMD R9 270X, RAM: 6GB

Ehm... Openbox and Windowmaker are no Desktop Environments.
Only KDE, Gnome and Xfce are DE's. which can be used with various window managers like their defaults: kwm, metacity and xfwm4. but in most cases these can be replaced with the wm of your choice.
So in theory, it should be possible to use Xfce or Gnome in combination with OpenBox instead of xfwm4 or metacity.

I'm using OB with XFCE panel and thunar
