KWallet is it secure?

Just wanted to know if anyone uses a wallet system to store their passwords, I mean you hear of people storing their passwords in firefox and ie and then it gets hacked sad Is it safe to store things in Kwallet or should I turn it off?

Re: KWallet is it secure?

On systems with KDE running I use KWallet and haven't had any problems so far. Obviously security can't be guaranteed, all systems and programs can be vulnerable, but a wallet applications usually adds a level of security over saving passwords in browsers. Unfortunatly KWallet is only tightly integrated with Konqueror.

Re: KWallet is it secure?

I would leave it active since it has encryption methods and is generally considered to be secure. Plus, it integrates superbly with related KDE programs so that with a single auth you can access all your other various passwords for your mail client and so forth. For example, I use Kmail and have numerous accounts with different passes for each server and they are all accessed seamlessly within Kwallet.
