/etc/rc.d/network stop fails

Hello, I'm new to Arch Linux, I've just installed it 2 days ago.
I managed to get everything up and running and I think I really like this distro...
Well, what I am about to ask isn't really a problem, it has no negative side effect (as far as I can tell).
When I shutdown the system at the point where it tries to call /etc/rc.d/network stop it says "failed: host unknown".

Anybody know what that is about?

I have an adls connection -> ppp0
eth0 is the external card, in rc.conf it is declared eth0="" (the rp-pppoe guide suggested i leave it this way)
eth1 is the card going to another computer that shares my internet connection.
in rc.conf it is configured eth1="eth1 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 pointopoint"

If you have any idea and wish me to post more config files, jusk ask, right now I have no idea what else to post.
As I said, it really isn't a problem, it isn't causing any negative side effects, I'm just wondering why it says that.
Many thanks in advance.

Radu

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

maybe the hostname in rc.conf isn't found in /etc/hosts
i.e
127.0.0.1 localhost luxbox

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

Well my host name wasn't in the hosts file bound to 127.0.0.1.
But adding it didn't solve anything.
I wish I could see a detailed output from the /etc/rc.d/network script.
If I could see exactly what step causes the message I would at least have a lead.
I'll keep at it.
Thanks anyway, man.

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

I think you should try to start the pppd daemon by adding ppp to startup scripts.
This script is already in the distro inside the /etc/rc.d folder. I connect with my adsl provider
in this way and everything works fine and dandy. I have a speedtouch 330 modem.
And don't forget to configure the daemon. And rename the file /etc/ppp/peers/your_provider
to "/etc/ppp/peers/provider"(the file name must be 'provider').

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

First of all, sorry I haven't replied in a while.
I haven't figured out what was the cause of that message, but I have given up.
That error doesn't cause any problems so I'm going to let it slide, for now.
I read in a different topic about an almost identical error message being caused by the dhcpd daemon. Something about lease times... Oh well.
Thanks for your input people.

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

I have no access to an Arch box just now, so iI can't check, but I'm quite sure, that the syslog will provide sufficient information about this issue to solve it. You'll find it under /var/log/.

EDIT: typos

Re: /etc/rc.d/network stop fails

I can't understand the syslog.
errors.log on the other hand povided some comprehensible information.
I'm posting today's section. Have a look!
