im using the powernow-k8 on my 3200+ athlon 64. 3 states, 800, 1600, 1800 mhz. The cpuinfo_max_freq is set right, but the scaling_max_freq isnt. its set to 1600. Ive tried changing it manually but nothing happens.
echo cpuinfo_max_freq > scaling_max_freq doesnt work
nor does
echo 1800000 > scaling_max_freq
ive found it as a bug around, and I think it was fixed in 2.6.20, but i like the beyond. is there any other way to fix this?
current kernel26beyond kernel.(2.6.19)

Put the right freq in /etc/conf.d/cpufreq

i have it set right in /etc/conf.d/cpufreq. I've found the issue just a minute ago, though it is unbeknown me the cause.
when i plug in the power adapter, scaling_max_freq automatically goes to 1800000, and when I put it back on battery it goes back to 1600000.
i have stopped acpid, powernowd, and cpufreq. all of them, on or off, do not effect this. I wonder if its the bios? this is a compaq r3140us laptop.
ps, i used the word unbeknown, so can i get some extra kudos somewhere?

Powernowd and cpufreq are not conflicting ? In my case, I just start cpufreq service (but I have a pentium)
Do you load all the modules ?
Ps: I'm french so I don't know what "unbeknown" means
Neither "kudo"
