trying to install OSS4, but I dont know how

Hi again.

Because it seems that alsa isnt capable of handling multiple programms that play sounds at once, i searched a bit and found out that using oss4 instead could help me.

So I searched the wiki about it and came to the page http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/OSS#Installation

I followed the link to the AUR, but now I'm stuck.

I just dont know how to install this. It would be really great if someone could give me a bit more detailed informations on how i have to proceed here.

Even worse: I tried to install the files directly from the oss page. So I downloaded it from there and copied the files I did get into the folders, and tried to configure my system like it was mentioned in the wiki.
It didnt run. SO I tried switching back to alsa. Removed all the oss stuff and put in alsa under DAEMONS in rc.conf again. But it does not work anymore. If i run alsaconf now it cant even find any Soundcard.

Im confused now, and dont have ANY Sound now. Cant even hear some music to relax sad

I need help here plz, I dont want to install my whole system again.

Bye

Re: trying to install OSS4, but I dont know how

Download tarball from http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd untar, cd oss-linux, run makepkg, install pkg.If you use yaourt run yaourt oss-linux.
In rc.conf put MOD_BLACKLIST=(soundcore) and DAEMONS=(...!alsa oss-linux)
Download PKGBUILD form http://cvs.archlinux.org/cgi-bin/viewcv … ag=CURRENT
edit an modify depends=('flashplugin-beta' 'icu' 'openssl') to depends=('flashplugin' 'icu' 'openssl') run makepkg and install.
Reboot.
Its possible without reboot but whit a lot of rmmod ..

This I get when trying to build libflashsupport

But my main Problem is solved. I can hear music now and have sound in EvE-Online at the same time. Only Teamspeak is missing now.

What exactly is libflashsupport for?

For flashplugin, youtube for example don't work without libflashsupport.Modify $CC $CFLAGS -shared... to gcc $CFLAGS -shared...
