i had to remove mpd to -Syu today because it said it required flac:
error: unresolvable dependencies:
mpd: requires flac=1.1.2
root@homer:/boot # pacman -Q flac
flac 1.1.4-1
after removing mpd, i upgraded with -Syu, but now i can't re-install mpd because of the "dependency" version error.
root@homer:/boot # pacman -S mpd
error: unresolvable dependencies:
mpd: requires flac=1.1.2 but it is not in the sync db
i guess it's just a minor error/oversight in the install script, but i thought i'd throw it out there in case it's something else.

I'm having the same problem.. Is there a fix?

Mpd should be updated... That's the fix.

mpd 0.12.1-3 is missing from the main extra pacman repo (ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686).. Other mirrors have mpd 0.12.1-2, which doesn't work with flac 1.1.4

the mpd dep problem is fixed , but now this appears
:: Replace audacious with audacious-plugins from "extra"? [Y/n]
browsing the pkgbuild in cvs reveals:
# audacious split into player and plugins. Used to be a
# dummy-package for this, but that's dumb. Since the
# plugins depend on the player, anyone still using the
# old audacious package will, after this replacement,
# end up with essentially the same as they used to have.
edit seems like

is true

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

As Jan mentioned, a lot of moves were made earlier today and the mirrors are having a hard time syncing up. It sounds like some of these issues are related. Please be patient.
If you're wondering why mirrors have this kind of trouble, it's because we only have one rsync server that all our mirrors pull from. This wouldn't be such a big deal if only official mirrors and large-site mirrors pulled from it, but the fact is, there are many people out there who think having 2 machines behind their router constitutes a "big" network and that they need to mirror the entire fscking repo. The end result is that we have dozens upon dozens of people mirroring the entire dang thing mostly because they felt like it, and they are sucking up the bandwidth for the *real* mirrors to pull from.
The suggestion box only accepts patches.

pacman -Suy --ignore mpd --ignore flac --ignore libsndfile --ignore xine-lib
works for now.

lol rant.
As funny as I find this, it's true. rsyncing repos hurts our central server - sometimes to the point where a simple ssh connection has a delay of like 5 seconds due to massive IO usage

Isn't there a way to prioritise the syncing of the official mirrors?

Yup - as you saw, that's what's supposed to happen. Just answer "Y" and you won't even notice the change.
