Hi guys, i am just trying to setup Suspend2 using filewriter (because i don't even have a swap space [2gb ram in laptop]) i follow the wiki totally through, install all the drivers i need, suspend2 kernel, etc, etc.
When i get to the part of configuring the filewriter file location and creating it, eg.
## For filewriter:
FilewriterLocation /root/suspend_file 256
VerifyFilewriterResume2 no
# hibernate --no-suspend
# cat /sys/power/suspend2/resume2
file:/dev/hda2:0x1a2b3
When doing that i actually get "You do not have a kernel installed which supports suspend2, bla bla bla" though i DO have kernel26-suspend2 installed.
So therefore i cannot enter the resume file info into grub because i cannot create the file as the hibernate script errors.

Check with "uname -r" that you're actually using suspend2 kernel. Should return "2.6.19-suspend2".

That is the problem, i cant use the suspend2 kernel UNTIL the filewriter file has been created as it just gives major errors when booting (it fails upon booting) i am use the current kernel26 kernel at the moment.

What errors does it give when booting?

they go way too fast to read it, it looks like random hex codes spitting up on the screen. it just goes in a continuous loop until it reboots itself.

If that's the case, you probably won't be able to boot anyways. It's strange however - suspend2 kernel isn't much different from vanilla.
Grab beyond kernel and check with that (there's 2.6.20-beyond in testing, 2.6.19-beyond in extra).

well kernel26 = 2.6.20.1 (IIRC) kernel26suspend2 = 2.6.19.2 (IIRC)
i know 2.6.19 works on my laptop as it is the only release that DID work at the time.
