Booting Arch installation on ext USB HD on various computers

Hi friends,

I have an Archlinux installation on an external USB drive. Booting is the easy part, since I learned to adapt GRUB during the installation to the different computers. On my SATA system the external USB drive is sdb, on my IDE computer back at home it is sda.

But the real tricky part is another: The bootprocess runs smoothly through the kernel26.img. But at a certain point (mostly after the UDEV) Archlinux ready the /etc/fstab, where you have hardcoded sda or sdb. So everytime I need to adapt this little thing. Is there a way to do it with a script during the booting process? Since it is read very early in the booting process, I can not imagine. But there is a little hope smile

Anyone any suggestions?

Thanks and best regards,
