For the non german speakers:
Intel will release a new driver for ipw3945 chips, completly under GPLv2, and the driver will go into kernel with 2.6.22 release

Thanks for the good news. I just wonder why they don't do the same with their audio cards stuff... hda-intel driver is so buggy. I still can't get my sound card to work properly... Anyway, that's OT.

Wonderful!
Functionalitywise I am extremely happy with all my Intel components (GM 945 an related components as well as the 3945ABG), so the only issues are/will have been the licensing.
Thanks for sharing this, ft!

Does anyone know if this driver will support package injection?

So this is blob free, correct?

This was on the forums a few weeks ago. The driver has been available since that time.

Right, just the only who realized this was... you, the topic i chose was quite different tough, since the ipw driver is not the only driver affected by this change.
Anyway, you were right saying you still consider the driver as quite unstable. It actually is, the module sometimes crashes, it randomly disconencts and similar. I think there are a few good reasons why the driver actually won't be brought before 2.6.22. Also, i don't expect linus to release it into the current kernel if the driver isn't stable flagged.
Ability is nothing without opportunity.
