Hi there,
i want to see all my maildirs from mutt on my desktop to see if i get new mails without opening mutt
everytime! I tried it with conky but i can define only one maildir there. So maybe one of you got
a hint for me.
Greetings

conky is actually a way to go if you do it right but it depends on the Format. From your post, I deduct that you are using the MailDir-Format. Therein lies the solution of the problem: every MailDir-Directory has another subdir called "new". Now, conky can execute sh-commands with a timed delay which is handed over in seconds and then display the output. Some ls/cut/grep/wc-magic could reveal the number of new items in your MailDirs, either isolated or combined into one output.
$ ls /path/to/mails/*/new/ | wc -w | cut -c 7-8That would display the number of new eMails in total up to 99. Adjust the cut parameters for more.
$ ls /path/to/mails/specific_dir/new/ | wc -w | cut -c 7-8That would display the number of eMails in only one MailDir.
Together with execi in your conkyrc, you got a winner.

you can do it in conky by setting
mail_spool $HOME/.mail/and then
$new_mails![]()

IIRC, that does not really work with the MailDir-Format. At least it did not for me.
