Or at least it appears that way. I can no longer change my background, everytime the gnome-background-properties app launches, it just locks up and sits there. I'm forced to edit some obscurely hidden %gconf.xml document to change it at the moment. I'm not entirely sure when or what broke it, since I haven't changed my desktop since a couple updates back. I've basically rebuilt all the packages for gnome and reinstalled them, no luck with that though. Anyone else encountered this issue, or have any ideas as to what might have caused it so that I can do some more looking around?

Well I found what the problem was, or the solution anyways.
I considered that the issue might be related to the actual files it was trying to read in my backgrounds folder, so I moved the folder to another location. Lo and behold, gnome-background-properties fired right up no problems. I have no idea what caused it, although I think it might have been related to thumbnails based on an issue I read about on another forum.
Anyways, it's all good now.
