Vmware-player does not start

I installed vmware-player and vmware-player-modules from AUR, but it does not start, neither by clicking menu icon (xfce4 menu) nor by running "vmware" in console (as user or root). when running vmware in console, it says "command not found" whereas pacman shows both vmware-player and vmware-player-modules are installed.

I have raised the same question as part of another post (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=30768, but thought it should be posted under separate heading so that the problem and solution could be easily located by other users.

Re: Vmware-player does not start

It installs to /opt, you'll need to logout/login to update your $PATH. Or just run the full path /opt/.../vmplayer

Re: Vmware-player does not start

First of all, I was trying "vmware" which is not the correct command. Thanks stonecrest for suggesting that the command is "vmplayer."

Secondly, it is installed in "/usr/bin/vmplayer"

But in order to get it working, you need to run "/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl" first to configure it. I did the same and ended up with another series of problem which is under different post. Here is the link. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 86#p237686
