yeah I do need it. Thanx. I will try to rebuild it but if I fail, will let you know. I emptied my cache a few days ago.

I could use that, thanks!
I was wondering if anyone had a "auto print" program that I could put on a Windows box which is hooked up to the Brother printer... Then I could print to PDF with CUPS to a Windows SAMBA share and have it automatically print the file. Preliminary searching has brought me this: http://www.bojert.de/fapa/index.html Just wondering if anyone else has any knowledge in regards to this.
Offline
Yeah, I couldn't build it so if you could make if available, that would be very helpful and appreciated.

ise, if you still have a cached version of cups-1.2.7, how can we grab a copy from you?
Offline
Hi,
sorry for my late answer...
I will provide it on my home directory on archlinux.org. It will be www.archlinux.org/~daniel/
But you must wait until evenig. I'm at work right now...

Thank you for the cups version but now I get this error:
/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC210C failed"
could it be libcups?

Try to execute the script from Brother again, I don't exactly know the name of it.
Otherwise I have no further ideas...
EDIT: Which version of libcups have you installed??
EDIT2: I have upload libcups-1.2.7 to my home directory

yep, tried both your cups and libcups, none works. will try latest vers 1.2.10
Offline
new cups old cups same crap. It ain't working. Keep getting this stupid error:
Brother_MFC-210C_USB_1 "/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC210C failed"
when I try to install wrapper, it removes or says it is removing brlpdwrapperMFC210C:
tcsh ./cupswrapperMFC210C-1.0.0
rm -f /usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC210C
:: Stopping CUPS Daemon [DONE]
:: Starting CUPS Daemon [DONE]
tried to run brlpdwrapperMFC210C script but it says it doesn't exist but when I got to the folder, there it is.
This happens with all versions of cups since the upgrade. Even 1.2.7, which is installed now does not work. Scanner works fine.
Hey ise, do you have older cups and libcups?
I mean older than 1.2.7.

I confirm Brother drivers do not work with Arch 0.8.
Have installed Arch on an oooold Celeron 300MHz last January for an old lady. This month she bought Brother MFC115C on my advice, since I got that model works very good under 2 other PCs running Mandriva 2007.0 & 2007.1
So I couldn't test it under previous Arch's release.
I carefully followed this topic howto, with no result at all.
Here's cups's log :
I [09/May/2007:12:40:12 +0200] New printer "MFC210C" added by "root".
I [09/May/2007:12:40:12 +0200] Setting MFC210C device-uri to "usb:/dev/usb/lp0" (was "file:/dev/null".)

E [09/May/2007:12:49:41 +0200] Unable to set ACLs on root certificate "/var/run/cups/certs/0" - Operation not supported

I [09/May/2007:12:52:40 +0200] Started "/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/printers.cgi" (pid=6377)
E [09/May/2007:12:52:51 +0200] PID 6328 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperMFC210C) stopped with status 31!
I [09/May/2007:12:52:51 +0200] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
I [09/May/2007:12:53:49 +0200] Started "/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/jobs.cgi" (pid=6384)
E [09/May/2007:12:53:49 +0200] PID 6383 (/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/printers.cgi) crashed on signal 9!
Brother FAQ does not mention this kind of issue / error I'll contact them, and ask for a driver update.
Now Brother works with latest Mandriva and Ubuntu, so I may try a new ISO called mcclive (!= MCNLive) based on Mandy 2007.0 that is beeing developed for old machines. Or I will add another old PC under whatever support the Brother and configure remote printing with Cups.
The old lady needs its printer!

Any one with a re-workin Brother pliz ?
Sorry if I ask, but I couldn't make any test since May 19, as I haven't a Brother printer myself.

I'm tired of this Brother MFC POS. I give up. I am just going to buy a HP off Amazon.

It's a little late, but I got the MFC3240C to work right by installing the extra cups drivers (foomatic-db, gutenprint, etc.) using the current system. (2007.8)
No scan support though.

Hey, I know this thread is really old now, but thought that people might like to know that Brother printers *do* seem to be working in Arch now. At least, my DCP-350c is, using the driver from the Brother website.
