but tomcat-5.5.20-1 does.
After installing tomcat-5.5.20-2 or tomcat-5.5.20-3 the following message keeps bugging me:
>>> It appears that your current kernel has linux security
>>> capabilities built as a module. tomcat requires this
>>> functionality to operate.
>>>
>>> To activate the module, please load it now (modprobe capability).
>>> Also, you should add it to your MODULES array in rc.conf, so
>>> it will be activated automatically at boot-up.
I went back to tomcat-5.5.20-1 and the "security module" seems to be no longer needed.
Which module do they mean? Is there something like a "security module" anyway?
Thanks for your time!

Did you follow the instructions?
As root:
# modprobe capability
Then try starting tomcat. If that works, add capability to the MODULES array in rc.conf

I'm sorry, I thought "modprobe capability" was some strange English sentence , but it is just a command.
Thanks for your answer. I'll try this tomorrow...
