Hard Drive Problem -- Can't boot

Hi,
I just tried to reboot my laptop and I got an error while booting up about a bad sector or something with my hard drive... I'm not sure exactly what the error is though..

I can not start arch

I am currently running Knoppix... I can not mount my hda3 partiton, but I can mount hda2

I'm not sure if my hard drive is screwed or what

I hope someone can help!!

Re: Hard Drive Problem -- Can't boot

the only advice i got is to run an fsck on the hda3 (i assume that's where arch is) ...
what errors do you get when you try to mount it ?

Re: Hard Drive Problem -- Can't boot

I ran a fsck:

fsck.ext2: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while trying to open /dev/hda3
Could this be a zero-length partition?

hmm? What do I do???

Re: Hard Drive Problem -- Can't boot

Unfortunately that thread didn't really help me.. I couldn't mount the drive even trying to use -o sb=XXXXXXX  I tried more than one superblock..

ugh
