[SOLVED] New Machine really slow

I am running X64 version of arch.  The machine is running terribly slow, but most notably so when booting.  Udev Events takes 2 minutes, and that's when I have MOD_AUTOLOAD="no", and just the ethernet card loaded.

I have been searching and searching for a solution, but nothing makes sense. Ubuntu and Fedora both run on these machines fine.

I installed off the Voodoo beta2 install CD,and I am running 2.6.20.  This is a Core 2 Duo machine, HP dc7700.

These are my only clues (things that seem out of the ordinary):
"Losing some ticks... checking if CPU frequency changed"
" warning: many lost ticks."

output of hwdetect --show-modules-order (takes about 5 min or more to run):
MODULES ORDER: cdrom intel-agp lp ppdev rtc hid i2c-algo-bit i2c-core evdev ff-memless pcspkr psmouse serio_raw tsdev parport parport_pc pci_hotplug shpchp nvidiafb snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-hda-codec snd-hda-intel soundcore ata_generic ata_piix e1000 usbhid usbcore ehci-hcd uhci-hcd sd_mod sr_mod

Here's my bootchart:

Several searches on google have turned up nothing. Any ideas anyone?

Re: [SOLVED] New Machine really slow

So I upgraded the bios, and it was like night and day.  I went from 2+ min boot times to ~10-15 sec boot times.  Pretty Crazy, eh?
