In KDE 3.2, Kghostview is the default viewer for inline pdf, kaboodle is the default for video. I installed KDE 3.2 without any earlier versions of KDE installed previously, and have problems with that these two apps do not bring up any content: No error messages, the applications start, but it just does not have any content, like it had been launched with no filename argument.
Now, launching kghostview from command line and trying to load a pdf gives me "kghostview: WARNING: KFilterBase::findFilterByExtension : no filter found for application/pdf". The ghostscript package I use is ghostscript 7.07.1-4. Are these incompatible?
Regarding Kaboodle, when starting it and trying to open a file, the file requestor filter only filters on audio files: No video formats (*.avi, *.mpg, etc) are part of the "All Supported Files" filter. Seems almost like Kaboodle is compiled without video support?
I'm on kernel 2.6.2, and the packages are:
kdeaddons 3.2.0-1
kdeadmin 3.2.0-1
kdeartwork 3.2.0-1
kdebase 3.2.0-2
kdebindings 3.2.0-1
kdegraphics 3.2.0-1
kdelibs 3.2.0-1
kdemultimedia 3.2.0-2
kdenetwork 3.2.0-1
kdepim 3.2.0-2
kdeutils 3.2.0-1
Any hints?

kghostview can have problems with some pdfs that are made with the newest adobe-stuff ...
-> install acroread
then in kde: [Open with...] and then simply type "acroread" and check [X] "Remember ..."
kaboodle ... actually i never used this never-working useless tool ... have instead a look at
gmplayer (working with mplayer)
and/or
kaffeine (in my TUR ... working with xine-lib)
make also sure you have "codecs" installed

kpdf works fine, that is not it. And I DO use mplayer (cvs from some nights ago), as I think it is way ahead of everything else.
Still, I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this, and found a workaround, as I'm pretty sure _I_ didn't break anything.

This really is a configuration problem, not a new package announcement.

Thanks, success Someone should prob tell a package maintainer, but I wouldn't know where to start.

i'm the maintainer of kde ... but have no idea how to mainpulate the ~/.kde/share/config/kghostviewrc in general case ... it's a file in the ~/ , not the system
