Tip: Setting CPU Freq from gnome cpufreq-applet

I noticed that as of the new version of gnome (2.18.0) the cpufreq-applet no longer shows the menu to set the frequency/governor of for your cpu.

To re-enable it:

# chgrp users /opt/gnome/bin/cpufreq-selector
# chmod 4754 /opt/gnome/bin/cpufreq-selector

Now you can left-click on the cpufreq-applet to set your frequency/governor.  I set-up two cpufreq-applets on my dual-core cpu (one for each core).

Note that this requires that you have cpufreq-utils installed and set-up.  There's an article in the wiki on that.
