If everything else fails, read the manual.

Aww man, so they are having a 1.0 release.
I always thought it was cool having a 0.x release and thought they would go 0.10 rather than 1.0 haha. Oh well.

"they" are actually we , the community ![]()
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Damn....oh well, I'm still going to keep pretending it's a tribute to John Wayne.

Ok well enough with the speculation.
As you have probably guessed by now, we are changing our name to Arklinux, and because of that there will never be a 1.0 release of Arch Linux. I realize this is disappointing news to many of you, to think that Arch will never reach the 1.0 mark, but you're going to have to believe me when I say this is for the better.

Oh, I thought that changing name for ArkLinux is just a PrimaAprilis Joke ![]()
I tried, I failed, no matter. Try again, fail again, fail better.

John Wayne is awesome...so I'll ignore the Duke Nukem reference.:P

Duh, I liked "Duke". Too bad it was cancelled. I think it was not going to have it "pending" for awhile....
If everything else fails, read the manual.

ha! and you guys thought I was kidding. It was only partially a joke ![]()

Man, I got owned
I didn't realize until just yesterday that the 1.0 release was in fact an April fool's joke
I also don't see the point in changing the release schedule.

Weren't you coming from Gentoo? So you should know it.
Arch has a rolling release. Each "release" iso is just a pkg snapshot + a simple installer to put a basic system on your hard disc. There are no goal or feature to finish the "1.0" release ever. The timestamp naming scheme fits more our rolling release.

This is probably the best way I've heard it put. The idealogical "1.0" implies a feature-complete release. Arch has no "feature-complete" stage. It just moves along, keeping up with package releases.
