Alternative music player?

Hello, im looking for an text based/GTK+2 based music player that supports scrobbling to last.fm, it should not depend on anything from Gnome, it must read id tags from mp3 files, and handle large music collections smoothly.

Anyone got any tip?

Exaile

It needs gstreamer but have some nice features like last.fm support or recording streams via streamripper

Hi

I really liked mpd + sonata, but i can't get  mpdscribble to work...

Sonata uses port 6700, and mpdscribble uses port 6700.

mpdscribbler.conf:

username = roberth1990
password = ******
log = /var/mpdscribble/log
cache = /var/mpdscribble/cache
host = Magda
port = 6700
verbose = 0
sleep = 30
[roberth@Magda ~]$ telnet magda 6700
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to Magda.hjemmenettverk.no.
Escape character is '^]'.
OK MPD 0.12.1

Is that username and password for last.fm or mpd?

Sonata uses port 6700, and mpdscribble uses port 6700.

That's fine. mpdscribble just needs to know what port to connect to mpd on, it doesn't start a server.

The username and password is for last.fm. mpdscribble doesn't support a password-protected mpd setup. mpd is secure without a password as long as you disable network access. If you need to control mpd across a network, you should use another audioscrobbler client like scmpc.

Can I remove the password protection by just commenting out the line that defines the password?

EDIT: Ok I did it now, but mpdscribble still yet scroobles my music:(

Well i came at least further with lastfmsubmitd:

2007-04-05 15:46:16,630 lastmp[15209] ERROR: Can't connect or lost connection to MPD

Well the problem is solved so far, weren't aware of that lastmp had an config file.

....and it works better than Rhythmbox'd plugin:D
