I can't power off my c2d laptop

nicholas@11:54:30:~$ uname -a
Linux LNZJU 2.6.19-beyond #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 15 17:41:19 EST 2006 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

I've tried the following commond, but it always hangs with the screen displaying "Power off"

shutdown -h now
halt -p
poweroff

BTW: I can reboot and laptop.

Re: I can't power off my c2d laptop

I've seent his bug once before on a HP laptop running Mandriva 2007. The laptop will eventually power down, it just takes minutes, often 15 minutes and more. On the HP the problem was caused by acpid and apmd running at the same time. Maybe you want to check that.
